Macclesfield Town Football Club Richard Butcher Memorial Trusts Donation 23rd April 2016 To help

Re-establish Youth Football "PROJECT 21"

Richard's hard work and determination epitomizes what every young player needs to demonstrate in order to succeed in football. Young players need the right support and infrastructure in order to enable them to grow as people and as players and so MTFC has been working on a plan to invigorate youth football in the town and the surrounding area. Richard wore the number 21 for Macclesfield Town and recognising that this project may well include players up to this age group, we think it would be apt to call this exciting Youth Football Proposal - PROJECT 21.

There are clearly significant set-up costs associated with such a plan and in order to underpin the longevity and success of Project 21, the Club will be seeking sponsors, and grants alongside its own investment. A donation from the Richard Butcher Memorial Trust will ensure that the Project will have the right foundations laid from inception, with the objective of restoring youth football development at Macclesfield Town for those aged 6-21. PROJECT 21 will not be intended to be elitist, but will provide somewhere for both boys and girls to enjoy and have fun developing their football skills and feel part of Macclesfield Town FC.

This will involve them receiving high quality coaching, in a safe environment which is inclusive and utilises the most appropriate equipment and support to ensure it succeeds. We anticipate that anywhere up to 150 children and young adults will be involved in these sessions each week. Maybe one child will even go onto play for Macclesfield Town and follow their dreams because of this scheme and donation.

The investment required will ensure that we have strong foundations from which the Club can create a platform for future generations to benefit from. Examples of the costs involved are as follows: This money will go towards: Staff costs (coaches)  Led by Byron Jenkins a UEFA accredited coach and a member of the MTFC first team staff, the Club will provide a team of coaches who have the right attitude, qualifications and skills to work with the players.  Cost of officials  MTFC will have to pay match officials to referee the youth football games. Facility Hire

The Project will be hosted at a local facility which can provide the infrastructure necessary to provide coaching in a safe and fit for purpose environment. MTFC are currently in discussion with 2 schools in the area who would rent their facilities to the Club. Purchase of kit and equipment.

The players will be provided with subsidised kit, which will be a replica of the training and playing kit worn by senior MTFC players. We believe this is important to provide a sense of being part of the Club but also provides uniformity and equality. Insurance Premiums

The players and coaches will at all times be covered by appropriate levels of insurance to protect against loss from accident or injury Wellbeing

All coaches and staff involved will need to be suitably accredited and subject to DBS checks League fees.

In order for players to participate in competitive games the Club will enter teams in local Leagues and Cup competitions as we believe it is important for players to not only have fun and enjoyment but also learn how to participate in competitive situations where they will also learn important lessons about sportsmanship.

Travelling costs  Competing in League and Cup competitions will incur travelling costs (usually minibus travel) and it is important that players are able to travel in a safe and comfortable way to such games.

Rename the Corner Flag Bar "Butch's Bar

This money will be used to decorate and maintain a very popular bar within the Moss Rose Stadium to be called Butch?s Bar. We believe that there will be a lively atmosphere on match days for fans to have a drink and remember their former captain, Richard Butcher. This money will be utilised to convert the bar currently known as The Corner Flag which is frequented both before kick off at half time and after the final whistle on match days by home fans. Costs will include:

Signage for the interior and exterior of the bar  Installing a "Butch"s Bar sign both on the inside and the outside the bar so that it is clearly visible Decoration  The bar would be completely re-decorated to make it a warm, friendly and welcoming venue which appeals to fans and is of the standard that would be expected of a facility bearing Richard's name. On going repair and maintenance would then be financed as and when required in order to maintain the high standards. Memorabilia.

The bar will be dedicated to Richard's memory and include photos, memorabilia and other items pertinent to Richard's time at the Club.

The Club has a bar named after Keith Alexander which is very popular and a similar facility named after Richard Butcher would be equally fitting. Overview A donation from the Richard Butcher Memorial Trust of £20,000 will significantly assist the football club to expedite the establishment of a youth football facility for all children and young adults in the 6-21 age group in the area with the objective of and helping them to become better footballers and better people. The re-furbishment of an already popular but currently slightly worn facility which is re-launched in Richard's name will provide a place for fans to meet and socialise in before, during and after a match and in the name of Richard Butcher.
